We were absolutely thrilled to be asked especially as the flowers were going to be such a big focus for their day (no pressure). Obviously it was going to be a floral wedding, as a florist this is music to our ears! And surely there was no other venue as appropriate as The Gardens in Yalding?
Rose season is actually a little later in the year, from May/June really but it is such a busy season that these guys couldn't take time off then for the wedding and so it had to be April.
Roses of course were the number 1 priority. Roses that are grown for the floristry industry are not the same varieties that you see growing in your garden. They are grown for different features such as stem length and longevity as a cut flowers but we could certainly get as close as possible.
Charlotte and Michael provided images of the roses they liked the best from the nursery, as well as those that meant something special to them and others that had been developed by the nursery themselves. We have fabulous suppliers that provided us with a rainbow of mixed colours.
There was no set colour scheme so we could go wild, Charlottle favoured yellows, Michael favoured oranges, so we mixed everything up with beautiful Spring flowers, sunflowers antirrhinums and ranunculus.
It was beyond lovely to work with a couple who not only understood flowers but gave us the freedom to be creative. There were milk churns of flowers and a stunning aisle runner, that doubled up as an arrangement arround the cake later in the day.
Having moved house since this wedding Rumwood Nursery is now my local nursery and it is a wonderful visit, reminding me of this wedding on every visit!
We have wonderful images of the day from photographer Florence Berry who really captured the joy and colour of the day.
